TSV 1860 München president Karl-Heinz Wildmoser has resigned, with Karl Auer taking over.

TSV 1860 München president Karl-Heinz Wildmoser has resigned, with Karl Auer, previously a member of the Bundesliga club's supervisory board, taking over.

Police investigation
Wilmoser, who had been president of 1860 München for 12 years, has been helping police with their enquiries relating to the construction of the new city stadium, and was arrested last Tuesday on suspicion of accepting bribes from a company that won the bid to build the new Munich stadium ahead of the 2006 FIFA World Cup finals. He was released from prison on bail on Friday.

Ground share
1860 München and city rivals FC Bayern München, who currently both play their home games at the Olympiastadion, are to share the new stadium, which is to be known as the Allianz Arena. Bayern president Franz Beckenbauer said the news would have no effect on the stadium construction, which he said would continue as planned.

World Cup matches
The 66,000-seat Allianz Arena is being erected in a Munich suburb and will replace the Olympiastadion, which was built for the 1972 Olympic Games and hosted the final of the 1974 World Cup in West Germany. The new stadium stage several World Cup matches in 2006, including the opening game.
