Article body
SV Werder Bremen forward Ailton missed the chance to go top of the ESM Golden Shoe standings when he hit the post with a penalty against VfL Wolfsburg on Sunday.
Ronaldo out of action
The Brazilian's profligacy, coupled with the fact injured compatriot Ronaldo did not play for Real Madrid CF and Thierry Henry failed to score for Arsenal FC, means that FC Banants' Ara Hakobyan maintains his slender one-point advantage at the top.
Shearer double
Several other top forwards have made significant moves in this week's standings, though. Andriy Shevchenko of AC Milan scored once against Parma AC and is joined in sixth place by Alan Shearer, who hit two goals for Newcastle United FC against Charlton Athletic FC.
Larsson landmark
Henrik Larsson of Celtic FC is just half a point behind in seventh after two goals against Hibernian FC took his all-time tally for the Glasgow giants to 233 goals - the third highest in the club's history. There are six players grouped on 36 points while Mista's hat-trick for Valencia CF saw him move up six places to 15th.

Only the leading five countries (Spain, Italy, Germany, France and England) on the UEFA Ranking have two as their multiplier. This is to emphasise the difference in (international) performance level between the clubs from those countries and those from the other countries.
A player cannot first play in a summer league (eg Norway) and then in a winter league (eg Spain) and combine the points total for each season.
