Clarence Seedorf helped AC Milan take a giant leap towards their first Serie A title since 1999.

Two goals from Clarence Seedorf helped AC Milan take a giant leap towards their first Serie A title since 1999 with a crucial 3-1 victory against champions Juventus FC in the Stadio Delle Alpi on Sunday evening.

Shevchenko opener
Andriy Shevchenko silenced the home supporters in Turin with the opener midway through the first half, thundering a header into the Juve net from Seedorf's cross. The Dutchman's second-half double put the visitors out of reach. Ciro Ferrara pulled a goal back for Juve in the dying minutes but it could not prevent Marcello Lippi's side slipping to a painful defeat, which leaves them nine points adrift.

Roma held
Milan had been boosted before kick-off with the news that fellow title chasers AS Roma dropped points for the first time in five Serie A games, drawing 0-0 with Reggina Calcio on Sunday afternoon. The capital club had scored 16 goals in the four-match wininng streak but fired blanks against their struggling opposition, and might have lost had David Di Michele's 55th-minute shot not hit the crossbar.

Udinese comeback
Roma's city rivals S.S. Lazio had no trouble finding their scoring touch, racing into a 2-0 lead inside the first six minutes of their game against Udinese Calcio at the Stadio Olimpico. Former Udinese forward Roberto Muzzi headed Lazio ahead in the fifth minute and then crossed for strike partner Simone Inzaghi to nod past visiting keeper Morgan De Sanctis a minute later. But Lucas Castroman quickly halved the deficit and Vincenzo Iaquinta made up for missing an open goal by heading an equaliser in the third minute of added time.

Baggio landmark
Parma AC missed out on the chance to climb into fourth spot as they too drew 2-2, sharing the spoils with Brescia Calcio at the Ennio Tardini. Twice Parma took the lead through striker Benito Carbone and midfield player Marco Marchionni, and twice they were pegged back, the first time by Luigi Di Biagio and the second time by Roberto Baggio, whose 74th-minute equaliser was his 200th Serie A goal.

Inter relief
The game between FC Internazionale and AC Chievo Verona at the San Siro also finished all square, with Inter picking up their first point in five games thanks to a 0-0 draw. Elsewhere, second-bottom AC Perugia drew 1-1 with Modena FC and struggling AC Siena ran out victors against winless Ancona Calcio by the odd goal in five.
