Empoli FC have been dealt a serious blow to their hopes of avoiding relegation with the news that goalkeeper Luca Bucci will miss the rest of the season after undergoing surgery on his left shoulder.
Balli steps in
The 35-year-old former Parma AC and Torino Calcio custodian will be out of action for about four months and will be replaced by the 36-year-old Daniele Balli in the last eight games of the season.
Four poitns adrift
Empoli are currently third from bottom in Serie A with 23 points, four from safety. They play high-flying Parma on Sunday.
