Rapid departure for Petrescu

Members

Former Romania defender Dan Petrescu has stepped down after four months in charge of AFC Rapid Bucuresti.

Two wins
The former Romanian international was in charge of the defending champions for just six league games, of which two were won, while the club were also knocked out of the Romanian Cup in the quarter-finals.

Eight points adrift
Rapid owner George Copos recently criticised his coach in the press and on Wednesday evening, after the team lost 3-1 at FC Universitatea Craiova, Petrescu announced his departure. Rapid lie third in the First Division, eight points behind leaders FC Steaua Bucuresti and FC Dinamo Bucuresti.

Rednic irony
Ironically, Universitatea are coached by Mircea Rednic, who was fired during the winter by Rapid and replaced by Petrescu.
