Ligament damage
The 26-year-old Scottish international damaged ligaments in his left knee during Saturday's 3-3 draw with Dundee United FC and immediately withdrew from tomorrow's international friendly against Denmark.
Strained tendon
Scans on the injured knee confirmed a strained tendon and Rae is resigned to missing the end of this campaign and spending his summer trying to recover in time for the next.
Protective brace
"The specialists all seem to think the injury could heal itself after rest and I'm hoping that's what happens," said Rae, who will wear a protective brace on the knee in the hope that surgery can be avoided.
Injury problems
The former Dundee FC player has struggled for fitness since joining Rangers in January, notably after pulling a hamstring on his debut which sidelined him for six weeks.
