Arges will go into the second leg of their tie with cup holders and league leaders FC Dinamo Bucuresti holding a 1-0 advantage, while Otelul will carry the same lead into the home leg of their game against CF Gloria 1922 Bistrita.
Dinamo defeated
Having won their previous seven games, Arges inflicted upon Dinamo a second defeat in as many matches thanks to Ciprian Tanasa's 69th-minute effort. Dinamo were beaten 2-0 by FC National Bucuresti in the league last Saturday.
Joy for Cartu
Meanwhile, a 13th-minute penalty was enough to give Otelul coach Sorin Cartu his first win at Gloria in 15 years as a coach. Gloria defender Alin Rus was sent off for the foul which led to the penalty, which Mircea Ilie subsequently converted.
