Caretaker role
The 48-year-old has signed a one-year deal with the club, who are lying in 17th place in the Eredivisie and struggling against relegation. He will take over from caretaker coach Johan Steur who has been in charge of the club since Henk Wisman's dismissal.
Amateur success
Dragtsma has been at Alkmaar since the summer of 2001 and has been responsible for youth team affairs. Perhaps his greatest achievement as a coach was winning the highest Dutch amateur Sunday league with AFC '34 in 1997.
