Members

TSV 1860 München have handed Dutchman Gerald Vanenburg the task of keeping them in the German Bundesliga.

Five-game contract
The former Dutch international, who was part of the Netherlands team that won the 1988 UEFA European Championship, has signed a deal until the end of the season, meaning that he will be in charge for the last five games of the season.

Relegation threat
The club parted company with Falko Götz after a 2-1 defeat at home to Hamburger SV on Saturday afternoon, their third straight loss. The result leaves them just one place and one point above the Bundesliga relegation zone

Return from Eindhoven
Vanenburg has been working as a youth-team coach under Guus Hiddink at PSV Eindhoven and is expected to return to the Netherlands at the end of the season to complete his course for the highest Dutch coaching licence. As a player, the 40-year-old spent 18 months with 1860 between 1998 and the end of 1999. He appeared in 43 Bundesliga matches for the club and scored two goals.

Zehetmair steps down
Meanwhile, 1860 vice-chairman Hans Zehetmair has stepped down from his post. Zehetmair informed chairman Karl Auer of his decision yesterday afternoon.
