Samp sunk by Doni blow

Members

News round-up: UC Sampdoria will be without Cristiano Doni for the rest of the season.

Doni influence
The news is a blow to the Italian side, who are chasing a place in next season's UEFA Cup. Sampdoria, promoted last term, are seventh in Serie A with four games remaining. Doni has been an important player for the Genoa-based team since joining from Atalanta BC last summer. The 31-year-old has scored five goals in 21 games.

Lottner to leave
Dirk Lottner will leave Bundesliga strugglers 1. FC Köln at the end of the season. The club captain rejected the offer of a new one-year contract on a reduced salary. The 32-year-old's agent Manfred Simon said that two Bundesliga sides were interested in Lottner, although second division MSV Duisburg remain favourites to sign him. Lottner joined Köln six years ago from Bayer 04 Leverkusen.

Salzburg keep Suazo
SV Austria Salzburg have exercised their option to extend the contract of midfield player Maynor Suazo for another two years. The Honduran international will now stay with the Austrian Bundesliga club until 2006. The 24-year-old moved to Salzburg four years ago from CD Marathon.
