Acuña facing week out

Members

News round-up: Feyenoord's Jorge Acuña will be out for at least a week after being injured by AFC Ajax fans.

Feyenoord midfield player Jorge Acuña will be out of action for at least a week after being injured by AFC Ajax fans who invaded the pitch after a reserve-team match on Thursday night.

Head injury
The Chilean international was taken to hospital after sustaining a number of injuries in the incident, and was released on Friday. However, he will be sidelined for at least seven days with concussion, and is still suffering from pain in his stomach and head.

Celebrations called off
Ajax can clinch the Eredivisie title on Sunday but the city of Amsterdam has decided that any title celebrations should be postponed. "It is really an outrage what happened," said Amsterdam's deputy mayor Mark van der Horst. "It would be improper to give a celebration party at the expense of the Amsterdam citizens now."

Matches postponed
Meanwhile, the Royal Netherlands Football Association has decided to postpone the Cup final for reserve teams, which was due to be contested by Ajax and Feyenoord in Kerkrade on 17 May. Consultation with both clubs will be sought in an attempt to solve the problem, with the match likely to be played behind closed doors. The match between the two clubs' youth teams, scheduled to be played in Rotterdam on Saturday, has also been postponed.

Sveinsson signing
Elsewhere, Fram Reykjavík striker Thorbjorn Atli Sveinsson has signed a three-year contract with Fylkir. The 26-year-old forward scored 28 goals in 106 games from Fram either side of a two-year spell with Danish side Brøndby IF.

Daníelsson deal
Another player on the move in Iceland is KR Reykjavík winger Einar Thór Daníelsson, who has agreed a one-year contract with ÍBV Vestmannaeyjar. The 34-year-old joins defender Jon Skaftason, striker Magnus Mar Ludviksson and American Mark Schulte at his new club. "I am glad to sign him up and he will be useful," said ÍBV coach Magnús Gylfason. "We had plans to strengthen our team and we have done so."
