Feyenoord's Jorge Acuña was taken to hospital after crowd trouble at a reserve game with AFC Ajax, the Dutch club reported on their website on Thursday night.
Pitch invasion
The Chilean midfield player sustained injuries to the head, neck, ribs and stomach after Ajax supporters invaded the pitch after the match at De Toekomst stadium in Amsterdam. Several other Feyenoord players, including first-team squad members Robin van Persie and Danko Lazovic, were also assaulted by Ajax supporters in the incident, but Acuña was the most seriously injured and was subsequently taken to hospital in an ambulance.
'Horrible chaos'
"It was horrible chaos," said Feyenoord's reserve-team coach, Mario Been. "My players were lying on the ground everywhere [and] had to be rescued by Ajax second-team coach John van't Schip and [Ajax] player Daniel de Ridder."
'Deeply ashamed'
"I am deeply ashamed about the behaviour of this group of Ajax fans," said the Amsterdam club's general manager, Arie van Eijden. Police made 53 arrests at the Eredivisie match between Feyenoord and Ajax on Sunday.
