Hamstring injury
The 24-year-old sustained a hamstring injury last week which forced him to sit out Lyon's 3-0 win against Stade Rennais FC on Saturday. Initial fears that Govou could miss the rest of the season have been allayed, with doctors expecting him back in action by mid-May.
Out of action
However, the centre-forward is unlikely to be fit for at least three of Lyon's five remaining league games - the trips to FC Girondins de Bordeaux and FC Metz, followed by the home match against SC Bastia on 12 May.
Likely return
Lyon, who lead the table by three points from Paris Saint-Germain FC, then visit the capital club on 15 May before finishing their campaign at home to Lille OSC eight days later. Govou could return for those games and remains in contention for a place in France's squad for UEFA EURO 2004™.
