Missed chance for Ailton

Members

Thierry Henry still leads the ESM Golden Shoe standings after a barren weekend for SV Werder Bremen's Ailton.

Ailton off target
The France striker was not on target at the weekend as Arsenal FC won the English Premiership title with a 2-2 draw at Tottenham Hotspur FC but none of his nearest rivals could score either. Henry is still eight points, or four goals, clear of SV Werder Bremen's Ailton who drew a blank as his side earned a goalless draw at VfL Bochum 1848 in the Bundesliga. Both players have four games left to add to their tally.

Totti double
Third-placed Ronaldo was injured and did not figure in Real Madrid CF's 2-1 home defeat by FC Barcelona in Spain's top-of-the-table match last night. The only significant change in the top ten saw Francesco Totti of AS Roma jump ten places to tenth with two goals in the 3-0 Serie A victory against Empoli FC.

Only the leading five countries (Spain, Italy, Germany, France and England) on the UEFA Ranking have two as their multiplier. This is to emphasise the difference in international performance level between clubs from those countries and those from the other countries.

A player cannot first play in a summer league (eg Norway) and then in a winter league (eg Spain) and combine the points total for each season.
