SC Bastia have dismissed coach Gérard Gili, with his assistants Christophe Galtier and José Pasqualetti taking over with immediate effect.
Mid-table security Gili, who coached Olympique de Marseille between 1988 and 1990 and again from 1994-97, leaves Bastia in 13th place in the French top flight. He departs after criticising the club's president François Nicolaï, having been quoted as saying: "He's nice enough, but this club needs another president. We must have a stronger president to grow."
Varied experience Gili, who took over at the Corsican club in July 2002, previously coached the Egyptian national team, and also had spells at Montpellier Hérault SC and FC Girondins de Bordeaux.
