AIK Solna coach Richard Money has resigned just three games into the new Swedish season.

Supporter pressure
The former Liverpool FC player has bowed to pressure from supporters amid rumours of dressing-room discontent and handed in his resignation to the club this afternoon, saying: "I've decided to resign as head coach from AIK, and first of all I would like to thank the club for the time I’ve been here.

First job
"It's been an honour to coach such a great club as AIK. The players and the fans have been great - that is why I've made this decision." The AIK job was the Englishman's first as head coach.

Tactical questions
Having finished fifth in the Allsvenskan last term, AIK have taken four points from their first three games this season. Critics, however, have accused Money of playing players out of position and also of making too many changes to his team from one game to the next.

Goalless draw
After the goalless draw at home to newly promoted Trelleborgs IF yesterday, winger Mats Rubarth expressed his discomfort with the team's tactics when he said: "Well, it's rather strange as we played with five or six different forwards today."

Stand-in duo
Former AIK players Patrik Brundin and Nebojsa Novakovic have been appointed as interim coaches and will remain in charge until at least June, when the Allsvenskan pauses for UEFA EURO 2004™.

Troubled period
Money became AIK's fifth coach in the space of four years when he took over from Czech coach Dusan Uhrin in December 2002. Since Stuart Baxter's departure in 2000, Olle Nurdin and Peter Larsson have also held the reins at the Stockholm club.
