Germany against the world

The German women's team will face an All Star XI as part of FIFA's centenary celebrations next Thursday.

Duo return
The All Star side will be coached by Sweden's Marika Domanski-Lyfors and France's Elisabeth Loisel. The German duo of Bettina Wiegmann and Maren Meinert, who both retired after winning the FIFA World Cup last year, have made themselves available to coach Tina Theune-Meyer, who might also welcome back Stephanie Jones. The 1. FFC Frankfurt player returned at the weekend after recovering from cruciate ligament surgery.

Acknowledgement
The match will be played at the Stade de France on 20 May at 18.15CET, and is an acknowledgement of the rising stature and popularity of the women's game and FIFA's involvement in that. The fixture will be followed by a men's friendly international with France meeting Brazil in a replay of the 1998 FIFA World Cup final.
