Pinto, 23, has signed up for 12 months and is already assured UEFA Cup football with Aachen, who will enter the competition regardless of the final result against double-chasing SV Werder Bremen on 29 May as their opponents have qualified for the UEFA Champions League.
Promotion hopes
Pinto is under contract at Schalke until 2006 but his prospects of first-team football there have not been helped by the impending arrival this summer of Bremen striker Ailton. Still, he could well be playing in the top flight with Aachen who, with two league games to go, are third in the 2. Bundesliga and on course for promotion.
