SL Benfica and Portuguese international youth player Bruno Baião died on Saturday, having been in a coma for four days after collapsing and suffering heart failure following a training session.
News confirmed
Cury Cabral Hospital director Pedro Canas Mendes revealed that the player died at 6.50pm. The 18-year-old midfield player collapsed unconscious in a café on Tuesday and remained in a deep coma.
High expectations
Benfica had high expectations of the player, and had only just informed him that they were ready to offer him a professional contract.
Fehér tragedy
It is the second player tragedy of Benfica's centenary year. Hungarian playmaker Miklós Fehér collapsed during a game in January and passed away.
