SL Benfica youth player Bruno Baião is in a coma in a Lisbon hospital after collapsing and suffering heart failure following a training session.
Heart problems
The 18-year-old midfield player collapsed unconscious in a café and was taken to the Curry Cabral Hospital. Benfica's website said Baião has a history of heart problems but had been passed fit to continue playing after recent tests.
'Delicate situation'
Hospital director Pedro Canas Mendes revealed that Baião's heart had stopped twice, at the café and again at the hospital. "The player's situation is extremely delicate but he is young," Canas Mendes said. "We all hope he will recover."
