Challengers slip-up
A 1-1 home draw against SV Pasching on Saturday in front of a packed Arnold Schwarzenegger Stadium allowed GAK to establish an unassailable four-point lead over reigning champions FK Austria Wien, who slipped to a 4-1 defeat at SV Mattersburg, with one game to be played.
Hajduk clinch title
The Croatian championship went down to the wire after Hajduk and NK Dinamo Zagreb had swapped places at the top of the table in recent weeks, but Hajduk clinched the title by two points on the final day with a 2-0 home win against NK Varteks. Dinamo had to settle for second place despite thrashing NK Osijek 4-1.
Esbjerg sinking
Reigning Danish champions FC København took a major step towards winning the league title for the second consecutive season after winning 2-0 at second-placed Esbjerg fB. The defeat condemned Esbjerg, who have led the table for much of the season, to third position while Brøndby IF moved into second with a 2-1 home victory against FC Midtjylland, three points behind FCK with two matches left to play.
Dinamo extend lead
With three rounds to go in the Romanian First Division, FC Dinamo Bucuresti extended their advantage over FC Steaua Bucuresti to four points after thumping FC Petrolul Ploiesti 5-0. Steaua were thankful for an 87th-minute equaliser from Adrian Neaga as they were held 2-2 by CS Otelul Galati.
Baník finish in style
Czech Republic champions FC Baník Ostrava ended their season in style with a 4-2 win at SFC Opava, but one of the biggest surprises of the campaign was the relegation of FK Viktoria Žižkov, who finished third last year.
Botev humbled
Once-mighty PFC Botev Plovdiv bowed out of the Bulgarian top flight after a 2-1 home defeat by PFC Levski Sofia, who ended the season in second place. PFC CSKA Sofia were third after drawing 1-1 at home to newly-crowned champions PFC Lokomotiv Plovdiv. Botev will be joined in the second tier by PFC Makedonska Slava and PFC Chernomorets Burgas.
Dnipro blow
FC Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk's hopes of gaining a UEFA Champions League place were dented in Ukraine as they lost 3-1 at lowly FC Illychivets Mariupil. The defeat allowed FC Shakhtar Donetsk to open up a six-point gap by beating FC Volyn Lutsk 2-0 away from home.
Servette secure
Servette FC qualified for next season's UEFA Cup despite a 3-2 defeat by FC Zürich, after BSC Young Boys did them a favour by beating FC St. Gallen, their only rivals for third spot in the Swiss Super League, 2-1.
Larsson bows out
Swedish international striker Henrik Larsson scored a brace of goals in his last match for Celtic FC as the Scottish champions beat Dundee United FC 2-1.
Netanya down
Maccabi Netanya FC became the second team to be relegated from Israel's top flight after Maccabi Nazareth FC, following a 2-0 loss to Maccabi Tel-Aviv FC. That result saved Bnei Sakhnin Club from the drop despite their 2-1 reverse against Maccabi Petach-Tikva FC. Tel-Aviv, Petach-Tikva and Hapoel Beer-Sheva FC are still chasing second spot, with a single point separating the three teams.
Estonia favourites win
There were no suprises in the Estonian Meistriliiga with the top four sides all victorious, leaving FC Flora three points clear of FC Levadia Tallinn and FC TVMK Tallinn.
