Larsson bids farewell in style

Henrik Larsson scored twice on his Celtic FC swansong to claim the Scottish Cup against Dunfermline Athletic FC.

Henrik Larsson provided a fitting finale to his Celtic FC career by scoring twice in his team's 3-1 Scottish Cup final triumph against Dunfermline Athletic FC.

Dunfermline lead
Underdogs Dunfermline - in their first final for 36 years - took a surprise lead in the 40th minute through Lithuanian international Andrius Skerla. The defender's looping header evaded the clutches of Celtic goalkeeper David Marshall and ensured a half-time advantage for the side that ended the Scottish Premier League season fourth, 45 points behind champions Celtic.

Larsson double
However, striker Larsson, who is to leave the club this summer, levelled the scores in the 58th minute, pouncing on a slip from Aaron Labonte. The 32-year-old then added a second in the 70th minute with a clinical finish to take his scoring tally in seven years at Celtic to 232 in 315 games, 40 of those goals coming this season. He is third in Celtic's all-time scorers' list.

Record clinched
Bulgaria skipper Stilian Petrov added the third goal for Celtic in the 83rd minute to allow the club to claim their 13th domestic double. They also set a record tally of 32 cup victories, one ahead of arch-rivals Rangers FC.

Calderwood consolation
For Dunfermline and their manager Jimmy Calderwood the prize of a place in the UEFA Cup next season, their first adventure in European football for 35 years, is a worthy reward for their efforts in a thrilling final.
