Article body
Legia Warszawa dropped vital points at the weekend to ensure leaders Wisla Kraków retained the Polish First Division title they have now won four times in the past six years.
Seven-point gap
Legia drew 2-2 with Groclin Grodzisk Wielkopolski on Saturday, the day after Wisla had beaten GKS Górnik Leczna 1-0 to increase their lead to eight points. The gap now stands at seven points with just two rounds of fixtures remaining.
Stolarczyk winner
Former Polish international left-back Maciej Stolarczyk marked his return to Henryk Kasperczak's Wisla side by scoring the only goal a minute before half-time. Miroslaw Szymkowiak's corner was flicked on by Maciej Zurawski and Stolarczyk found the net for the visitors.
Good start
Legia needed to defeat a strong visiting Groclin side to retain any hope of the title and made a good start when forward Piotr Wlodarczyk opened the scoring on eleven minutes. But Marek Jozwiak was sent off four minutes later for a foul on Groclin's Bartosz Slusarski.
Saganowski hope
The home side made their one-man advantage count and were ahead by the interval thanks to midfield player Sebastian Mila's goals on 30 and 39 minutes. Despite playing with ten men, Legia managed to level the game through Marek Saganowski 12 minutes from time, but they could not force a winner.
