Camp Nou farewell for Stoitchkov

Buglarian legend Hristo Stoitchkov has marked his retirement with a charity testimonial at the Camp Nou.

Dream team
The 38-year-old officially retired from professional football in December when his contract with Major League Soccer side DC United expired, having previously played for PFC CSKA Sofia as well as Parma AC, Dubai side Al Nasr, Japan's Kashiwa Reysol and Chicago Fire.

'Dream team'
His famous Barcelona 'Dream Team' of the early 1990s, who won the 1992 European Champions Clubs' cup under Johan Cruyff and Carles Rexach, played a World XI coached by Sir Bobby Robson and Dimitar Penev.

Presidential honour
Prior to the game Bulgarian president Georgi Parvanov and Barcelona president Joan Laporta each made presentations to Stoitchkov, and Spanish tenor José Carreras sang in his honour. The match was officiated by former FIFA and UEFA referee Atanas Uzunov, who was first witness at Stoitchkov's wedding.

Two goals
Stoitchkov, the leading scorer at the 1994 FIFA World Cup as his nation reached the semi-finals, scored twice in the first ten minutes, and his side ended up winning 2-1. "I wanted to win this game in order to leave football as a winner," Stoitchkov said.
