Article body
Corruption case
Synot finished fifth in the first division but Valenta has taken action following recent allegations of corruption. On 1 May, Synot sport manager Jaroslav Hastík was arrested following bribery allegations while five referees are also under investigation.
'Enough is enough'
Valenta said Synot would respect their obligations to the playing and coaching staff but added that the club would fold if no buyer was found in the next two months. "We have decided that enough is enough," Valenta said. "We do not want anyone tarnishing our good name." It is thought that two parties are interested in buying the club, who will not compete in the UEFA Intertoto Cup next season despite qualifying through their league position.
Investigation under way
Valenta said the decision was not a confession of guilt and that he would not be leaving football entirely. The Synot company is the majority owner of the Slovakian top-flight side AS Trencín.
