Article body
Second sample
The 30-year-old gave a positive urine sample after playing as a second-half substitute for Uruguay in their 3-0 defeat by Venezuela in Montevideo in a 2006 FIFA World Cup qualifier on 31 March. A second sample was tested and the Uruguayan Football Association again found traces of a 'social drug', which the Spanish Football Federation today confirmed as cocaine.
Awaiting punishment
Correa must now wait for FIFA to decide his punishment, which it is expected to reveal on Monday. It is not known whether the Spanish authorities will take further action. However, Correa will be unable to play for Mallorca against Real Madrid CF on Saturday.
