Champions League demands
The 44-year-old will join Bremen in the summer after agreeing a two-year contract with the club. Rolff has been signed by Bremen to help deal with the demands of the UEFA Champions League and will assist coach Thomas Schaaf.
Playing career
Rolff played 356 Bundesliga matches in a distinguished playing career with Hamburger SV, Bayer 04 Leverkusen, KFC Uerdingen 05, Karlsruher SC and 1. FC Köln, and was capped 37 times by the Federal Republic of Germany. He was later assistant coach to Berti Vogts at Leverkusen between November 2000 and May 2001.
Crunch match
Bremen have the chance to clinch the Bundesliga title on Saturday when they visit nearest rivals FC Bayern München. Schaaf's side, who currently top the table six points ahead of Bayern with three rounds to go, will be crowned champions if they can snatch a win at the Olympic Stadium.
Unbeaten run
Bremen, chasing a fourth crown but their first since 1993, extended their unbeaten run to 22 games with a 6-0 derby win against Hamburger SV 6-0 last Saturday.
