'Real honour'
Henry, whose 29 Premiership goals have helped Arsenal to the title and to within one game of an unbeaten league campaign, received 87 per cent of the vote from journalists to add to the Player of the Year award he had already received from his fellow professionals. The French international, who finished ahead of Chelsea FC's Frank Lampard and his Arsenal team-mate Patrick Vieira, said: "It is a real honour to receive this award for the second year running. But, as I always say, it would not have been possible without my team-mates and, of course, the manager."
Culina joins Twente
Dutch Eredivisie side FC Twente have signed Australian striker Jason Culina from AFC Ajax. The 23-year-old was out of contract with Ajax, whom he joined from Sydney Olympic FC in 1999, and made only two substitutes' appearances this season. Twente technical manager Johan Plageman said: "Jason is a player who can play in several positions in attack and just behind the front-line. He really is a welcome reinforcement for us."
Wijker move
FC Volendam, fighting relegation from the Netherlands' top flight, have agreed a two-year contract with AZ Alkmaar's out-of-contract defender Peter Wijker. The 32-year-old will join Volendam in the summer after eleven years with his current club.
Twins reunited
Meanwhile, Feyenoord defender Gérard de Nooijer will be reunited with twin brother Dennis at second division FC Dordrecht next season. The 35-year-olds spent 13 seasons together at Sparta Rotterdam and SC Heerenveen before Dennis left for NEC Nijmegen in 2001, later rejoining Sparta whom he will leave this summer for Dordrecht. Between them they have played more than 700 Eredivisie matches and scored 114 top-flight goals.
