RSC Anderlecht's Aruna Dindane and Vincent Kompany collected the player of the year awards in Belgium.

RSC Anderlecht and Ivory Coast striker Aruna Dindane has been voted Belgium's Player of the Year by his First Division peers.

Good Kompany
The 23-year-old secured 448 votes to finish ahead of Anderlecht team-mate Vincent Kompany, the 18-year defender who dominated the Young Player of the Year voting. R. Excelsior Mouscron forward Luigi Pieroni, the leading scorer in Belgium, finished third. "This is beautiful - an excellent end to a fine season," said Aruna, who won last year's Golden Shoe, awarded by sportswriters and celebrities in Belgium.

Anderlecht dominate
Hugo Broos was unsurprisingly named Coach of the Year for masterminding Anderlecht's 27th Belgian championship triumph, while Pär Zetterberg, the club's Swedish midfield player, received the Fair Play honour in recognition of a season in which he was not booked. KAA Gent's Frédéric Herpoel broke the Anderlehct monopoly by carrying off the goalkeeping honour and Johan Verbist was named the best referee.
