Article body
'Pobegalov has done a lot'
The decision was announced immediately after the 2-1 defeat on Wednesday, with Shinnik vice-president Rostislav Danilenko telling the Premier-Liga club's website: "Aleksandr Pobegalov has done a lot for Shinnik, rising through the ranks from the youth academy to first-team coach, but we have decided to terminate his contract."
Poor form
The cup upset followed a series of poor league results which have left the Yaroslavl side in 12th place in the table with ten points from ten games. The 47-year-old Pobegalov, who took over at Shinnik in 1999, said: "The coach is the only one to blame if his team isn't playing the way he wants it to."
Interim appointment
Valeri Frolov, Pobegalov's former assistant, will lead the team for the next three league matches until a permanent replacement is found.
