Decision explained
Rizespor general manager Yilmaz Zehiroglu explained they had discovered that Özberk had been in contact with other clubs even after signing for them. Zehiroglu said: "We do not want to work with a coach who could fail to commit himself to our club." Zehiroglu added that the club would immediately begin their search for a replacement, with Riza Çalimbay among the candidates.
Meeting confirmed
Çalimbay, who earlier this month left MKE Ankaragücü, confirmed he had met with Rizespor officials. He said: "Probably either on Tuesday or Wednesday we meet again. Our agreement will be subject to their ambitions for next season. I want to coach a team whose goal is to finish in the top positions."
Sakaryaspor appoint Sert
Meanwhile, newly promoted Sakaryaspor AS have appointed Necmettin Sert as the successor to Saban Yildirim. The 41-year-old coach has signed a 12-month contract with the Sakarya club. Emphasising his past experience at the club where he worked as the youth development coordinator, Sert said: "I am not a stranger to the team and I have no intention of altering its backbone."
