All change at Aberdeen

Aberdeen FC have dismissed manager Steve Paterson and appointed Willie Miller as director of football.

Troubled season
Paterson had been in charge at Pittodrie for a year and a half after taking over from Dane Ebbe Skovdahl in December 2002. However, results this season were poor, with the team finishing second bottom of the Premier League.

Miller return
Former Dons captain and manager Willie Miller has been brought back to the club as director of football. Aberdeen chairman Stewart Milne said: "We have backed the present management team since they joined the club and regret having to take such steps, but we firmly believe it is the right decision for the club.

New team
"We are convinced that the most effective way to benefit from Willie joining the board in his new role is to allow him the opportunity to bring in his own management team."
