Moroccan midfield player Hoalid Regragui has signed for Spain's Real Racing Club Santander.

Moroccan name
The 28-year-old, who counts Toulouse FC and AC Ajaccio among his previous clubs, has agreed a three-year contract with his new club. Although he holds dual French and Moroccan nationality, he was a member of the Morocco team who lost 2-1 against Tunisia in this year's African Cup of Nations final.

German contracts
In Germany, Hannover 96 have signed a new two-year contract with striker Daniel Stendahl. The 30-year-old played 28 games for the club last season, scoring four goals. Meanwhile Hertha BSC Berlin have agreed a three-year extension with midfield player Andreas Neuendorf, who joined the club from Bayer 04 Leverkusen in 2001.

Besiktas president
Following the resignation of Serdar Bilgili, Yildirim Demirören has been elected as the new president of Turkish side Besiktas JK. Demirören narrowly beat Fikret Orman in the race to become president but insists that his victory will be seen as a success for the club in the long run.

Presidential pledge
"It was Besiktas who won," said the 40-year-old, who has held several roles on previous Besiktas boards. "We will do our best for the success of the club. We are aiming to build a team which will be watched with pleasure by all the Turkish people in the world."

Ergotelis go up
In Greece, Heraklion side Ergotelis FC will compete in the Alpha Ethniki for the first time next season after winning in yesterday's promotion/relegation play-off against Akratitos FC. Jean-Marie Sila's 90th-minute goal won the day for the second division side who have won promotions in their last four seasons.

Vitesse relief
In the Netherlands, SBV Vitesse have retained their place in the Eredivisie with a match to spare in the promotion/relgation play-offs. A A 1-1 draw at FC VVV was enough for the Arnhem side to secure first place in Group A. FC Volendam have already been relegated, with Group B to be decided in the final round of games on Thursday.

Loovens lift
Elsewhere, Feyenoord have handed 20-year-old central defender Glenn Loovens a new contract that will keep him at the club until 2007. Loovens, who made his first-team debut in 2001/02, has spent the current season on loan at second division SC Excelsior who are currently emboiled in the promotion/relegation play-offs. Looven's fellow Dutch youth internationals Dustley Mulder and Gianni Zuiverloon have also signed improved contracts with Feyenoord that will expire in summer 2007.
