Senior UEFA officials have attended a ceremony in Kiev to commemorate the start of construction of the Football Federation of Ukraine's new headquarters - which is being built with UEFA's help.
Special capsule
UEFA treasurer Mathieu Sprengers and UEFA Executive Committee member Gerhard Mayer-Vorfelder were present at the ceremony, which included the immuring of a special capsule containing football mementos symbolising the start of building work and marking UEFA's Golden Jubilee this year.
Media presence
The event took place in the Ukrainian capital in front of representatives of the country's various regional football associations, as well as a considerable media contingent.
HatTrick assistance
UEFA's contribution of CHF2.5m, within the framework of the HatTrick assistance programme open to all of its 52 member associations, will give the FFU considerable help in constructing the five-storey building.
Excellent environment
The premises will include office space for the various association officials and coaches of the country's national teams, and promises to create an excellent working environment. The building will also contain an auditorium and there are plans to set up a small Ukrainian football museum.
