Reggina Calcio have named Walter Mazzarri, the 42-year-old who led AS Livorno Calcio to promotion from Serie B last season, as their new coach.
Camolese shock
Mazzarri replaces Giancarlo Camolese, after contract negotiations between Reggina and the former Torino Calcio coach stalled last month. Camolese had joined the club after ten games of the new season when the Calabrians had managed just a single victory. He helped them avoid relegation, but was unable to agree new terms.
Serie B success
Mazzarri has had previous Serie A experience, as an assistant coach at SSC Napoli and Bologna FC. He then had spells as head coach of AS Acireale and AC Pistoiese, before moving to take the helm at Livorno.
