News round-up: FC Schalke 04 have signed defender Marcelo Bordon from Bundesliga rivals VfB Stuttgart.

FC Schalke 04 have signed Brazilian defender Marcelo Bordon from Bundesliga rivals VfB Stuttgart.

Early move
The 28-year-old was expected to move when his contract expired next summer but the two clubs have agreed a transfer fee early.
Bordon signed a five-year contract with the Gelsenkirchen club. In the five years since joining Stuttgart from Brazilian side Sao Paolo FC, the defender played 129 Bundesliga matches, scoring eleven goals.

Hannover home
Michael Tarnat has agreed a two-year deal to join Bundesliga side Hannover 96 from Manchester City FC. The former international, who made 19 appearances for Germany, will go straight into the Hannover side in the left-back position. Tarnat, who is 34, did not have his contract extended at City and is expected to end his career at the Niedersachsen club.

Swerts moves on
Feyenoord’s Belgian midfield player Gill Swerts will spend next season on loan at ADO Den Haag. The 21-year-old has one more year to run on his contract with the Rotterdam club, but does not figure in the plans of new coach Ruud Gullit.

Zelic zeal
Newly promoted Austrian Bundesliga club FC Wacker Tirol have strengthened their squad ahead of next season with the signing of Australian Ned Zelic. The 32-year-old defender confirmed the move, saying: “I am very happy about this switch and I am keen to help this young team be successful in the future.”

Kuban snare Petrov
Struggling Russian side FC Kuban Krasnodar have agreed an undisclosed fee with PFC CSKA Sofia for former Bulgarian international Svetoslav Petrov. The 26-year-old midfielder will join the Kuban squad on Wednesday in Germany, where they are currently in a training camp. He will sign a two-year contract. Petrov, who began his career at PFC Dobrudzha Dobrich, won the Bulgarian title with CSKA in 2003 and played 111 games for the Sofia club since joining them in 1999.

Disappointing start
Kuban have made a disappointing start to the new Russian season and currently lie in a relegation spot, two points from safety. They hope that the holding midfielder, who also scored three league goals for CSKA last season, will improve a defence that has conceded 19 goals in just 13 games so far this year.

Milosevski switch
Elsewhere, F.Y.R. Macedonia goalkeeper Petar Milosevski has joined Akçaabat Sebatspor from Turkish rivals Malatyaspor on a one-year contract. The 30-year-old player, with 37 international caps to his name, had spent three seasons at Malatyaspor after three prior campaigns with Trabzonspor.
