Article body
Örgryte IS coach Jukka Ikäläinen was given a boost ahead of the restart of the Allsvenskan in July when midfield player Magnus Källander agreed to rejoin the club on Thursday after 18 months in Greece.
Happy homecoming
The hard-working midfield player left Örgryte in January 2003 for FC Aris Thessaloniki then, after financial problems at Aris, signed for Iraklis FC. He has now opted to return home, signing a two-and-a half-year contract with the mid-table Gothenburg club.
'Fantastic feeling'
"This feels fantastic," said Örgryte chairman Stefan Allbäck. "Both we and Magnus are very pleased and Magnus will give our squad a lot of experience. He's the kind of player that we have been missing ever since he left."
Firm favourite
Källander, a firm favourite with the Örgryte supporters, will be 37 when his contract expires, but Allbäck, father of Sweden international Marcus, believes the veteran can prolong his career beyond 2006. "Yes, we signed him for two-and-a-half years, but we believe he can play for a bit longer," he said. "His natural fitness is fantastic, and he's still very ambitious."
Helsingborgs sign Mngomeni
Elsewhere in Sweden, Helsingborgs IF have signed 21-year-old South African midfield player Thando Mngomeni from Supersport United on a three-year deal, and Trelleborgs FF have signed Canadian international Stephen Ademolu on a two-year contract.
