Disappointing campaign
Motyka, 46, replaces Mieczyslaw Broniszewski, who was released by the club at the end of last season after just three months in charge. The 1999/00 champions only retained their top-flight status on the last day of the season, and after a disappointing campaign that was not enough to keep Broniszewski in the job.
Former defender
Motyka, a former Poland international defender, won the Polish title as a Wisla Kraków player in 1978. Last season he was in charge of Second Division side ZKS Tloki Gorzyce, but did not last until the end of a campaign in which his side were relegated.
