Arteta seals homecoming

Members

Midfielder Mikel Arteta has returned to Spanish football to join hometown club Real Sociedad de Fútbol.

Keen to return
The Basque side have reportedly paid Rangers FC a fee in the region of €4.5m for Arteta - around half of what he cost the Scottish club two years ago. The 22-year-old, who had been keen to move back to San Sebastian, has signed a contract until June 2008 with the option of a further two seasons.

Barça beginnings
A Spanish Under-21 international, Arteta was nurtured at FC Barcelona before being loaned to Paris Saint-Germain FC in 2000. Rangers brought him to Glasgow two years later and he was part of the team that won the Scottish Premier League, Scottish Cup and Scottish League Cup in 2003.
