Charlton Athletic FC have signed Moroccan defender Talal el Karkouri from Paris Saint-Germain FC.
Tall defender
The 27-year-old has moved to The Valley on a three-year contract in a deal worth €1.5m. The tall defender was a finalist at the 2004 African Cup of Nations and helped PSG to win the 2001 UEFA Intertoto Cup and the 2003/04 French Cup as well as being a Ligue 1 runner-up in 1999/00 and 2003/04.
Loan spells
It will be the Moroccan's second spell in the Premiership, after he spent a brief period on loan at Sunderland AFC in the 2002/03 season where he played nine league and cup games. He has also played in Greece for FC Aris Thessaloniki as well as making 87 appearances for PSG.
Moroccan experience
El Karkouri began his career in his native country with Raja Casablanca before moving to PSG. He has made 26 international appearances for Morocco and was in the side which lost the final of the 2004 African Cup of Nations 2-1 against Tunisia.
