Mifsud retains presidential role

Dr Joseph Mifsud has been re-elected as president of the Malta Football Association until 2007.

Vice-presidents re-elected
Mifsud polled 56 of the 97 votes cast at the MFA's annual general meeting this morning. The other contestant, former Valletta FC president Joe Caruana Curran, received 41 votes. Carmelo Bartolo, John Farrugia and Ludovico Micallef remain as the three vice-presidents while Alex Manfré was confirmed as treasurer.

"I would like to express my gratitude for my election back into office," said the 53-year-old Mifsud, who became president in 1992 and two years later began his association with UEFA. He was also on the FIFA Executive Committee from 1998-2000.
