Lokomotiv trailed leaders FC Zenit St. Peterburg by two points before the start of this game, postponed from 3 July due to the UEFA Intertoto Cup campaign of Nevio Scala's side, but the 0-0 draw kept Lokomotiv in third and ended Spartak's run of three straight victories, though the improving side are unbeaten in five.
Moskva held
Spartak remain sixth because FC Moskva were held 1-1 at FC Shinnik Yaroslavl in today's other game. Shinnik, third from bottom, took a 39th-minute lead through Aleksandr Shirko, but Stanislav Ivanov levelled 21 minutes from the end to leave his side in seventh place.
