Atlético capture Sosa signature

Uruguayan midfield player Marcelo Sosa has signed a three-year deal with Club Atlético de Madrid, the Primera División club said on Saturday.

Sosa, who featured for Uruguay in the recent Copa America, played for PFC Spartak Moskva last season but recently rescinded his contract with the Russian Premier League club. "I'm delighted to have signed for one of the biggest clubs in Spain," said the 26-year-old. "My main aim is to help Atlético qualify for Europe next season. I don't like losing and I've come here to win trophies."

Two-goal deficit
Atlético finished in seventh place in the Spanish top flight last season to qualify for the UEFA Intertoto Cup. They reached one of the finals of the competition but trail fellow Spanish side Villarreal CF 2-0 after the first leg, with the return match taking place on 24 August.
