The 26-year-old striker has impressed while on trial at Selhurst Park and manager Iain Dowie hopes Kaviedes's goals will help the newly promoted side establish themselves in the top flight.

"He's an outstanding footballer, an icon in Ecuadorian football," said Dowie of a player who has scored 12 goals in 33 internationals. "He's shown good motivation in training and has been a breath of fresh air. He's an outstanding finisher and free-kick specialist."
European experience
Kaviedes arrives from Barcelona SC in Ecuador but has played in Europe before, with AC Perugia in Italy, and Real Valladolid and RC Celta de Vigo in Spain.
