Kenny does Derry deal

Members

Stephen Kenny has been appointed manager of Derry City FC three weeks after being sacked by Bohemian FC.

Three-year deal
Kenny, 33, left Bohemians at the end of July following their UEFA Cup defeat by FC Levadia Tallinn. He has now signed a three-year deal to take over as the long-term successor to Gavin Dykes, who resigned from Derry in June leaving Peter Hutton as caretaker manager.

'So much potential'
"There is so much potential here," said Kenny, whose new side lie seventh in the ten-team division with 12 games left. Derry have gone through five managers, including caretakers, in two years and Kenny said: "When you see all that Derry has to offer you know they can be a force in Irish football. I would like to add a cutting edge to the side, but I am not going to change things overnight."
