Polish First Divison newcomers KS Cracovia have signed former international Marek Citko on a free transfer.

Polish First Divison newcomers KS Cracovia have bolstered their squad by signing former international Marek Citko on a free transfer.

Two-year deal
The 30-year-old midfield player, who has been training with Poland's oldest football club for the last few weeks, has agreed to sign a two-year contract. "I am pleased to return to Polish league after two years," said Citko, who spent the last two seasons in Switzerland with FC Aarau.

Injury problems
Citko, who started his career at Jagellonia Bialystok, was one of Polish football's brightest hopes of the 1990s having made his reputation with a series of glittering performances for Widzew Lódz in the UEFA Champions League and a goal against England in a 1998 FIFA World Cup qualifier at Wembley. Injuries hampered his progress, however, and he went on to have brief spells at Legia Warszawa, Groclin Grodzisk Wielkopolski and Israeli Premier League side Hapoel Beer-Sheva FC before joining Aarau.
