A solitary Grégory Pujol goal brought FC Nantes Atlantique a second victory of the Ligue 1 season against RC Lens on Sunday evening. Pujol struck a minute before the hour to settle the game and inflict a second defeat of the season on eleventh-placed LOSC.
Superb finish
Pujol missed a good chance in the first half when he blasted the ball wide after Lens goalkeeper Charles Itandje had parried a fierce effort from Florin Bratu into his path. But the 24-year-old striker redeemed himself on the hour, lobbing the ball over former Nantes defender Nicolas Gillet before unleashing an unstoppable shot into the top corner from outside the area.
Eight-point gap
Nantes, who started the campaign with two draws and two defeats, move from 17th to 14th place, now eight points behind leaders AS Monaco FC.
