Trezeguet fires Juve to the top

Members

David Trezeguet scored twice as Juventus FC beat Atalanta BC to maintain Serie A's only 100 per cent record.

Trezeguet double
Fabio Capello's side owed their victory to two goals from David Trezeguet. The Frenchman struck first on 14 minutes, controlling a Gianluca Zambrotta cross and then firing into the bottom corner beyond Massimo Taibi. He doubled the lead 12 minutes into the second half by converting a cross from strike partner Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Milan leave it late
AC Milan left it late to get the goals their domination merited away to Bologna FC, Andriy Shevchenko breaking the deadlock from the penalty spot with five minutes remaining, after both Filippo Inzaghi and Cafu had been denied by the woodwork. Kakà made it 2-0 in added time as Milan welcomed back Filippo Inzaghi following a six-month lay-off.

Drama at Messina
The most dramatic match of the day was in Sicily where Vincenzo Montella struck a hat-trick but still ended up on the losing side as AS Roma went down 4-3 to newly promoted FC Messina Peloro.

Montella denied
Montella twice cancelled out efforts from Alessandro Parisi, a penalty, and Salvatore Sullo, and he then looked to have put Roma on course for victory when he completed his treble after 68 minutes. However, Messina hit back with two goals in quick succession in the last 20 minutes, Domenico Giampà equalising on 73 minutes before Riccardo Zampagna made it 4-3 five minutes later.

Miccoli opens account
Italy striker Fabrizio Miccoli scored his first goal for ACF Fiorentina as they beat Cagliari Calcio 2-1. Leading from the 16th minute, Dario Dainelli added Fiorentina's second in the last minute and there was still time for David Suazo to pull a goal back for the visitors.

Fightbacks
Federico Cossato and Franco Semioli scored as AC Chievo Verona came from behind to win 2-1 at AC Livorno Calcio, and AC Siena also fought back to beat UC Sampdoria 2-1 through goals from Samp old boy Simone Vergassola and Daniele Portanova. Meanwhile, Emiliano Bonazzoli was on target as Reggina Calcio earned a 1-1 draw at S.S. Lazio, his goal cancelling out a Simone Inzaghi penalty.

Udinese win
In Sunday's late match, Udinese Calcio recorded their first victory of the season, 4-0 at home against Parma FC. Antonio Di Natale opened the scoring before the break and further strikes from Marek Jankulovski, David Di Michele and Dino Fava completed an impressive victory. Parma finished the match with ten men after Daniele Bonera was sent off.
