Article body
FC Sochaux-Montbéliard joined Olympique de Marseille in mid-table on Sunday evening after inflicting their visitors to a 2-0 defeat at the Bonal.
Poor spells
Jérémy Mathieu and Francileudo dos Santos scored the goals, one in each half, to help the home side to their first win since the opening day of the Ligue 1 season five weeks ago. For José Anigo's Marseille it is now three games without a win, but both clubs are just four points behind surprise leaders Toulouse FC.
Barthez beaten
Mathieu's goal, a long-range effort helped past Fabien Barthez by Marseille midfield player Leyti N'Diaye's inadvertant touch, came on 38 minutes. A Santos cross-shot on 63 minutes wrapped up the points for Sochaux, who face Stabæk IF in the UEFA Cup on Thursday.
