AS Monaco FC are back on top of Ligue 1 but needed a last-minute penalty to beat FC Nantes Atlantique 2-1.
Kallon winner
Olympique Lyonnais's 2-0 win at Toulouse FC on Tuesday had taken them above Monaco, who needed all three points against Nantes to overtake the champions ahead of their meeting in Lyon on Saturday. It seemed a draw was on the cards until Nicolas Savinaud brought down Mohamed Kallon in the penalty area and the midfield player steped up himself to convert the spot-kick.
PSG held
While two of France's UEFA Champions League contenders, Monaco and Lyon, ride high, Paris Saint-Germain FC are yet to win this season after seven league games and fell into the bottom three after being held 2-2 by RC Lens. Lorik Cana and Fabrice Pancrate had given PSG a 2-0 lead which they held until the 81st minute when Jacek Bak pulled one back. Vitorino Hilton equalised four minutes later.
Bordeaux soar
SC Bastia fell to their first defeat of the season at the hands of visitors FC Girondins de Bordeaux. Frédéric Née put Bastia ahead just after the half-hour, but within six minutes Lilian Laslandes had scored twice for Bordeaux, and seconds later Julien Faubert added to the lead before Marouane Chamakh completed a 4-1 win. Bordeaux are fourth, a point behind Lille OSC who beat FC Sochaux-Montbéliard 2-0.
Ajaccio off the mark
AS Saint-Etienne gained their first victory this term as they overcame AJ Auxerre 3-1, while AC Ajaccio, under caretaker coach Olivier Pantaloni, also broke their duck and left the bottom three by beating FC Istres 1-0, sending their opponents into last place. Olympique de Marseille were defeated 1-0 at Stade Rennais FC, while lowly RC Strasbourg drew 0-0 with SM Caen. OGC Nice's match with FC Metz ended 1-1.
